Kingsand and Cawsand

Twin villages on the Rame Peninsula with colour-washed cottages, narrow lanes and three small beaches between them. Until the 1844 boundary changes, Kingsand sat in Devon while Cawsand was in Cornwall, and the old boundary mark is still on a house wall in Kingsand. Smuggling was the main business here in the 1700s. The walk west from Cawsand follows the coast path round to Rame Head and its medieval chapel; from Kingsand the path runs north into Mount Edgcumbe.
